Welcome to the BoMoSh!

If you missed last month’s post, then in short, the BoMoSh is a new post for Books, Movies and Shows. I’ll be sharing what I’ve read and seen in the last month, and I always welcome suggestions for books, shows and movies. Leave me a comment if you think there’s something that I might enjoy.

Books | 6

  • Broadcast, by Liam Brown
  • Scythe, by Neal Shusterman
  • Reign of the Fallen, by Sarah Glenn Marsh (review coming soon!)
  • Dividing Eden, by Joelle Charbonneau (review coming soon!)
  • The Glass Spare, by Lauren DeStefano (review coming soon!)

This month I did something I don’t think I’ve ever done before: picked up a book I really wanted to read, read the first few chapters and put it down. Nevernight by Jay Kristoff sounds so cool, and I’ve heard amazing things about this fantasy title. But I just couldn’t get into it! I feel like it’s not going to be a book that I never read, I just wasn’t feeling it at the time, so I didn’t want to force myself to read it. If you’ve read Nevernight, what were your thoughts?

Broadcast was our Blogger’s Bookshelf Book Club third pick of the year (chosen by Erin at A Natural Detour), and you’ll be able to read a full review of the story coming soon. Scythe was incredible; check out the collaborative review Erin and I wrote about it on Blogger’s Bookshelf.

I didn’t really enjoy Dividing Eden very much; find out why in a book review soon, but The Glass Spare was amazing!

I do realise that today is only the 26th of March, so I do hope to read at least one more book between now and the end of the month. Follow along on Goodreads to see if I make it through another book.

Movies | 1

  • Black Panther (2018)

Just the one this month. Sad, but better than last month’s zero. I really liked Black Panther! Thought it was a great movie, and a brilliant addition to the Marvel universe.

Shows

March saw me watching Dynasty, which is a recent addition to Netflix NZ. I also finished watching seasons 1 and 2 of Don’t Trust the B in Apartment 23, and continue watching Riverdale. Shadowhunters Season 3 began this month, and I’ve started watching 30 Rock (for the first time, I’m behind, I know).

Next Month…

Books – I’m heading overseas for 2 weeks in April, so I hope to get a bunch of reading done. I suspect there will be days where I won’t have much to do (not wanting to get out into the country by myself with no language and no means of communication), so I think I’m going to take either The Wise Man’s Fear by Patrick Rothfuss with me, or maybe Days of Blood & Starlight by Laini Taylor, or Shadow of Night by Deborah Harkness. Oh, or maybe Queen of Shadows, by Sarah J Maas. Something that’s big enough that it might take me 2 weeks. I’ll download some Kindle books too, just in case.

Movies – April brings with it international travel, so hopefully the plane will have some good movies on it. Fingers crossed!

Shows – I’m going to try and finish Nashville Season 1 (seriously, Anjali, what are you even doing?) and also Grey’s Anatomy season 9. Eek. I’m trying guys, I really am.

Drop me a comment if you have any suggestions for books, movies or shows.
