Welcome to another book haul!
Over the past two months (since the last book haul), I’ve somehow managed to acquire a vast amount of books. I say ‘somehow’, like I don’t know where they came from, but let’s be honest, I do know. Most of the titles I’m about to share are from various lovely publishing companies who have sent me books in exchange for a review. There are also a couple of books in this pile that I’ve bought myself from Book Depository. I’ve actually read all of these books now, so I’ll link up the reviews for you so you can check them out in more detail.
Let’s get straight into it, and remember to let me know if you’ve read any in the comments! I’d love to know what you thought of them.

City of Ghosts, by Victoria Schwab
This book was awesome. Despite the fact it’s a middle grade book, it was a joy to read. If you’ve read anything by Victoria ‘V.E.’ Schwab then you’ll know how great a writer she is and how well she weaves her stories. City of Ghosts is no different, and I highly recommend checking it out!

A Curse of Ash and Embers, by Jo Spurrier | Only Love Can Break Your Heart, by Katherine Weber
Thank you to HarperCollins NZ and Walker Books Aus (respectively) for these review copies. These were very different stories; the first is about witches, while the second is about a girl, a boy and the desert.

And the Ocean was our Sky, by Patrick Ness
This was a really interesting retelling of Moby Dick, by Herman Malville. Ness tells the story from the flip side, from the perspective of the whales, and it’s a really poignant look around the themes of ‘every story has two sides’. The illusrations are by Rovina Cali and are beautiful. This book was from Walker Books Aus.

Are We All Lemmings and Snowflakes, by Holly Bourne | Two Roads From Here, by Teddy Steinkellner
I really enjoyed Lemmings and Snowflakes, and the story that Bourne tells of Olive at Camp Reset, a rehab programme for kids. Two Roads from Here I didn’t enjoy as much, as it was hard to follow. I liked the overall all idea (following five high school seniors and two strands of their stories, depending on one action), but it didn’t quite live up to expectations. Check out my review for a more detail description. Thanks to HarperCollins NZ and Simon & Schuster AU respectively.

The Dark Between Stars, by Atticus
you may recall me raving about the beautiful book that is Love Her Wild over at Blogger’s Bookshelf. Well a few months ago my pre-order for Atticus’ second collection of poems arrived and it’s just as stunning. You can find him on Instagram.

The Last Magician, by Lisa Maxwell
I was a bit hesitant in requesting this book from Simon & Schuster AU because I wasn’t sure on a) the size (it’s not gigantic – 528 pages) and b) to dive into a fantasy novel at the time. But I am so glad I did becuase it’s turned out to be one of my favourite reads this year. You can actually currently win a copy of it over at Blogger’s Bookshelf in our 6 year Blogoversary giveaway. Highly recommend.
And so ends another book haul! I have a bunch more hauls coming your way so stay tuned! As always, let me know if you’ve read any of these books and what you thought of them. I’d love to hear from you!
