Another season means new books are a’coming.
With a new month and a new season come another long lists of books that are due to be released, and I cannot wait! Thanks to Goodreads, we get a pretty good idea of when books are going to be released, with minor changes being made if need be. Some of these books have been on my TBR list for a long while now, and some are recent additions as I’ve been browsing the Coming Soon lists.
While the list of upcoming books for fall/spring are lot longer than my simple collection here, I’ve gathered together 5 books which I’m super looking forward to being released in the next few months. You can check out my entire To Be Read list on Goodreads if you’re curious (and while you’re there, feel free to add me as a friend, or suggest a book to me!).
Girls Made of Snow and Glass – Melissa Bashardoust
Release Date: September 5th 2017
At sixteen, Mina’s mother is dead, her magician father is vicious, and her silent heart has never beat with love for anyone—has never beat at all, in fact, but she’d always thought that fact normal. She never guessed that her father cut out her heart and replaced it with one of glass. When she moves to Whitespring Castle and sees its king for the first time, Mina forms a plan: win the king’s heart with her beauty, become queen, and finally know love. The only catch is that she’ll have to become a stepmother.
Fifteen-year-old Lynet looks just like her late mother, and one day she discovers why: a magician created her out of snow in the dead queen’s image, at her father’s order. But despite being the dead queen made flesh, Lynet would rather be like her fierce and regal stepmother, Mina. She gets her wish when her father makes Lynet queen of the southern territories, displacing Mina. Now Mina is starting to look at Lynet with something like hatred, and Lynet must decide what to do—and who to be—to win back the only mother she’s ever known…or else defeat her once and for all.
This book has only come on my radar recently, but it sounds so interesting! I love the idea of magicians and castles, and fairy-tale like reworkings of stories.
Turtles All the Way Down
– John Green
Release date: October 10th 2017
Sixteen-year-old Aza never intended to pursue the mystery of fugitive billionaire Russell Pickett, but there’s a hundred-thousand-dollar reward at stake and her Best and Most Fearless Friend, Daisy, is eager to investigate. So together, they navigate the short distance and broad divides that separate them from Russell Pickett’s son, Davis.
Aza is trying. She is trying to be a good daughter, a good friend, a good student, and maybe even a good detective, while also living within the ever-tightening spiral of her own thoughts.
I’m not the only one saying it: about flippin time! I cannot wait for another John Green book to be released! It’s been a good long time since The Fault In Our Stars, and fans (myself included) have been waiting for what seems forever. But writing takes time, ideas take time, and we get that, John. We get that. Still super pumped that there’s a new book though and I love just love the title!
Ringer – Lauren Oliver
Release date: October 3rd 2017
Like its ambitious companion novel, Replica, this far-reaching novel by powerhouse bestselling author Lauren Oliver digs deep into questions of how to be a human being in a world where humanity cannot be taken for granted.
In the world outside the Haven Institute, Lyra and Caelum are finding it hard to be human—and neither of them knows where they belong or who they can trust. When Caelum leaves without warning to pursue the dream of a place he belongs, Lyra follows him, convinced that together they will hunt down a cure for the illness that’s slowly consuming her mind. But what they uncover is a shocking connection to their past—even as their future seems in danger of collapsing.
After discovering the uncomfortable truth about her connection to the Haven Institute, Gemma struggles to return to her normal life. But when she learns that her controlling and powerful father has new plans for Lyra and Caelum, Gemma and her boyfriend, Pete, leave in the middle of the night to warn them of the danger they face. When an untimely accident derails them, they are mistaken for the escaped replicas and seized by strangers hired to capture them. The Haven Institute wasn’t destroyed after all, and now Gemma is the one behind the walls.
You may recall my review of the first in this series, Replica. It was such a fun book to read because one side of the book is told from Gemma’s perspective, and the other side Lyra. You physically flip the book over to read each part, either by alternating chapters, or reading one whole side first and then the other. Looking forward to the second in this series from Oliver.
If There’s No Tomorrow – Jennifer L. Armentrout
Release date: September 5th 2017
Lena Wise is always looking forward to tomorrow, especially at the start of her senior year. She’s ready to pack in as much friend time as possible, to finish college applications and to maybe let her childhood best friend, Sebastian, know how she really feels about him. For Lena, the upcoming year is going to be one of opportunities and chances.
Until one choice, one moment, destroys everything.
Now Lena isn’t looking forward to tomorrow. Not when friend time may never be the same. Not when college applications feel all but impossible. Not when Sebastian could never forgive her for what happened.
For what she let happen.
With the guilt growing each day, Lena knows that her only hope is to move on. But how can she move on when tomorrow isn’t even guaranteed?
After reading The Problem With Forever, I knew I had to read whatever book Armentrout published next. This book actually comes out on Tuesday, so hopefully I can get my hands on it soon!
Fireblood – Elly Blake
Release date: September 12th 2017
Against all odds, Ruby has defeated the villainous Frost King and melted his throne of ice. But the bloodthirsty Minax that was trapped inside is now haunting her kingdom and everyone she loves. The answers to its demise may lie to the south in Sudesia, the land of the Firebloods, and a country that holds the secrets to Ruby’s powers and past….
Despite warnings from her beloved Arcus, Ruby accompanies a roguish Fireblood named Kai to Sudesia, where she must master her control of fire in a series of trials to gain the trust of the suspicious Fireblood queen. Only then can she hope to access the knowledge that could defeat the rampaging Minax–which grows closer every moment. But as sparks fly in her moments alone with Kai, how can Ruby decide whom to trust? The fate of both kingdoms is now in her hands.
Really enjoyed the first in this series by Elly Blake, Frostblood. Excited to see where the story goes!
