Fandom of the Month Club - Game of Thrones Special Box

Occasionally Erin Maynard, who runs the Geeky Cauldron and is the creator and designer behind Fandom of the Month Club, will put out a one-off special Fandom box. These are different from the subscription boxes, and are sold separately. These are great boxes if you don’t want to be surprised each month, but would rather knowing what you’re getting. You can find the special boxes in her Featured Items section on her shop.

When this Game of Thrones box arrived on my door step just last week, I had completely forgotten about it. That’s the thing with the one-off boxes – you order them, you pay for them, but then they don’t arrive until about 6 weeks later, just due to the fact that she doesn’t know how many people are going to want them, and it takes more time to put out a special box. But this box is great. Check out what was in it.

Information Card, Stash Bag, Magnet and Decal

Like ever box (normal and one-offs), there are several things which are a constant. The information card, which says ‘When you play the game of thrones, you win or you die’ on it, is great and I love it. I like the special box cards the best because they don’t say ‘fandom of the month club’ on them but rather have a quote. The magnet in this box is so great! I think it’s actually one of my favourite magnets now. Tyrion Lannister is great, and I’m so glad out of all the people she could have chosen, it was his silhouette on the magnet. Super neat. The bag this month, unlike the normal months, is a red, almost velvety/satin type bag, which reads ‘A Lannister always pays his debts’. In addition to these three things (which come in the normal boxes) was a little decal, with the Stark direwolf on it. I will probably pop this onto some paper and create a phone cover with it.

Stark Direwolf Earrings

Much like the style of the Sherlock and Watson earrings in May’s box, these are super neat direwolf earrings, as per the Stark House sigil.

Jon Snow Watch Necklace

This is so sweet, so sad, and so wonderful, all at once. This necklace is a watch/clock on the inside (though I can’t quite figure out how to change the time), and on the outside is a picture of Jon Snow, which reads ‘My watch has ended’. I see what you did there, Erin. I see.

Metal Bookmark

While I don’t normally use bookmarks, I have actually been using this one. I really love this quote. On onde side it says ‘A read lives a thousand lives’ and the other side says ‘the man who never reads lives only one’.

Dragon Claws Ring

This is by far my favourite piece from this special box. With three talons, this dragon ring is so great. I’m wearing it as I type this up. My only gripe with it is that it doesn’t fit my chunky fingers very well, so I have to wear it as a midi ring. Which is fine, don’t get me wrong, but I don’t want to try and stretch it a big bigger so it fits like a normal ring, for fear of bending or breaking it. But I love it! So great!

So there we have it. A special box from Fandom of the Month Club. At the moment on the Geeky Cauldron you can actually still buy this box, and a few other special boxes too.
