Bloggers here in Auckland meet up once a month and head to brunch somewhere. I had missed the previous months before this one, but when tickets went up for grabs, I knew I had to get in there for this one. This month we headed to a place called Loop here in Auckland, and it was really awesome. I hadn’t been before (nor had I really been to that area at all – I had to get two buses to get there. Sigh. I need a car…), but I loved the décor and the food was really good.
Before I get into what I ate, I’ve been reading up on their About page about their philosophy, their ethics, and their story, and it’s all really amazing. They are all about supporting the local area with their produce- “Making a priority of quality, locally-sourced produce allows us to support our neighbours, use the freshest of foods, and offer guests a higher-end dining experience at an affordable price”. And are “committed to sourcing our produce from only the most ethical of suppliers so you can be free to enjoy a guilt-free dining experience”. It’s so refreshing and wonderful to see this sort of thing happening in our biggest city, and they are really doing a great job at it.

After my two buses and a careful walk over a train track foot bridge, phone dying in my pocket and hoping that I got there at the right time, I joined the others (I’m no good at numbers…if you’re reading this and you were there…how many were there of us, do you think?), and we hung out and chatted together for about an hour before we had our entrées.
We got an entrée and a main, and some of us had dessert too. For the entrée I had Bacon + Eggs, although it was most definitely not your standard bacon and eggs. The description for the dish read: Crispy Pork Belly, Squid + Chorizo Scotch Quails Egg, Peas, Celeriac + Apple. And guys, it was really good, and so pretty!

For the mains I had Oil Poached Lamb Rump, which had the description: Lamb Sweetbread, Kumara, Courgette & Mint, Buttered Kale + Pumpkin, Roast Jus. Again, everything was really good, although the sweetbread freaked me out, so while I tried it, I did leave it to one side.

Although I didn’t get a dessert, Katie from katiebell.me was kind enough to let me take a photo of her amazing-looking Passionfruit Cheesecake.

While heading to the first Brunch Club back in January I was really nervous and I didn’t know what to expect at all, having only seen these lovely people’s blogs, this time round I was greeted by Laura from LauraLaura Blog, and from there it was a lovely catch up with some of the people I had met last time, like Katie from katiebell.me, Bri from Bri DiMattina, and meeting some new people who I’d only previously seen/talked with online, like Genie from Bunny Eats Design, and Lena from Lena Talks Beauty. At one stage we did a chair swap, so I also met Chloe who blogs with Jess over at Freckle, Rebecca from Becca Jane Lee, Jess from Jess Birkin, and Pia who blogs at Pia Does Fashion. If I chatted with you or sat near you and I didn’t include you in this list, sorry! Eek!

Brunch Club NZ is run by Madi from Madicattt, Laura from LauraLaura Blog, and Lizzy from My Foxy Corner. Loop Cafe logo above is from their website, which is no longer active.
