Along with Owl Crate, this was one of the subscription boxes I was most excited about. And I was not disappointed at all. I actually received this box in the first week of May, but I think I was just too excited about wearing the items that I forgot to post about it. Eek! Oops! Sorry!

Fandom of the Month Club is this amazing monthly subscription box where you get 3-4 fandom inspired pieces of jewellery every month.  Being a bit of geek and loving so many different movies, tv shows and books, this is the perfect subscription box for me. After seeing some of the previous months (and watching many unboxing videos on YouTube), I knew I had to sign up. Previously they’d done Doctor Who, Divergent, Narnia, and Star Wars and hellooo, I love all those things. I was way too excited when the April box landed on my doorstep at the end of last month. April’s theme was Harry Potter, which is my favourite book series ever, and it was awesome! It comes in this super cute box (which was a new thing in April – previously they’d been using little bags). Here’s what was in the box:

Card

Sorry, forgot to take a proper picture of this. But it’s a card made by The Half Blood Prints, and it reads “Fandom of the Month Club Member” and has a picture of Hogwarts on it. On the back it has the Fandom of the Month details and where to find them etc etc.

Knick Knack Bag

This is something that you get every month, with a screen printed themed quote. These are made by Sand Sink and the bags are so sweet and handy!

Deathly Hallows symbol key ring

Made by The Sorcerer’s Phone, this is super neat and went on my key chain straight away. I’ve always been one to have way more key rings than actual keys, so this was a perfect addition.

Golden Snitch Earrings and Owl Ring

These are made by the Geeky Cauldron, and are super neat! The ring is very small though, so perhaps it’s supposed to be a midi-ring. I don’t know, but either way I wear it only half way down my finger, and that’s fine. Love the earrings. If I wanted to go Snitch overload, I could wear them with the golden snitch necklace that I got from Sawyer and Scout a few years ago.

Wingardium Leviosa necklace

This is my favourite piece in this box. It’s a beautiful little feather about 3cm long with the words ‘Wingardium Leviosa’ on it and I’ve worn it so much just in the two weeks I’ve had it. Love love love it. It’s also made by the Geeky Cauldron.

Pricing

The price of the box is only $13USD. Crazy, right? Especially since the pieces in it are over $30 combined. So in that sense, it’s super cheap, but the products are of a great quality, so you’re definitely getting a good deal.

Shipping

If you live in the USA, shipping starts at just $2. If you live overseas, shipping starts at $6.50. Being in New Zealand means it was about $8 shipping, which is actually so good. It means for one month it’s about $21USD (approx $28 NZD), and for a package that’s worth over $30 USD (approx. $40 NZD) I think that’s a great deal. They ship the boxes between the 20th and 25th of each month, and it only took about a week to get here. Another great thing!

Options

Like a lot of subscription boxes, you can either buy it month by month, or you can purchase a 3 month subscription, a 6 month, or a 12 month one. Because I knew I was going to love it, I bought a 3 month subscription right from day one. After your month/s end, it will automatically renew, so be aware of this if you’re thinking about signing up.

Verdict

I love this box so so much. It’s affordable, even far far away here in NZ, it’s exciting and geeky and it can be a complete surprise if you don’t catch the sneak peeks of what the theme is for the following month. If you are a part of many fandoms, then you need to get on board with this.

What I also love about this box is that because it’s jewellery, it can be super obvious (like the snitch earrings) or it can be super subtle, like the necklace. Either way, it’s a conversation starter, and it feels like you’re being a geek everywhere you go. If you find you get a month where you don’t actually have a love of that fandom, chances are at least one or two of the pieces you’ll like anyway that aren’t super-themed (like the owl ring), and anything else you can always pass on to other geeky friends, or perhaps even jump on that fandom’s band wagon and spend the next month binge watching every episode that was ever made. It’s a win win.

If I haven’t convinced you, that’s okay! I’m definitely going to continue getting this box, and at less than $30 NZD a month, I’m going to end up with a lot of awesome fandom jewellery. Check back next month for another one of these unboxing posts! Eeep! Can’t wait! I wonder what the Fandom will be!
