Welcome to St Mary’s Cathedral, Taranaki

Taranaki Cathedral is New Zealand’s oldest stone church, and boy does it have a story. I won’t go into it because you want to read about my adventures and not a history post (I assume; correct me if I’m wrong and we’ll sort something out). As I said the other day, a group of us from the college I work for headed on down to New Plymouth, Taranaki, for four days.

We were there to be a part of the celebrations of Taranaki Cathedral becoming a part of the Cross of Nails community, but we spent a lot of time there, every day in fact, and even did a bit of work in the graveyard for them. Because it’s such an awesome building, I thought today I’d share some of the photographs I took of the church and church yard.

Isn’t it great? If you are ever headed to New Plymouth, go and check it out.
