The new Japanese subscription box!
Japan has always been in some ways a part of my life.
While it wasn’t until late last year that I actually got to go to Tokyo, growing up we had a constant flow of Japanese students. They would come over from Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto and Nagoya to spend a set amount of time in New Zealand learning English. We would offer our home for them to stay with us, as they were all billeted out into the community.
One of our students really became a part of the family, when she stayed for 6 months. Even if the students we had only stayed a few weeks, we loved having them stay with us. They brought all their culture with them, and while they always brought us thank-you gifts, they blessed us with Japanese cooking and learning little phrases in Japanese. Hopefully, their stay with us was one that they remember for the rest of their lives.
When Carly from Neko Box* announced that she and Rob were starting a Japan-themed subscription box, I was too excited about it. It was only a little over a week ago that they opened for orders, so I thought I’d take this opportunity to share their story and their what-I’m-sure-will-be-an-amazing subscription box.

Neko Box is a brand new business venture by Carly and Rob; two kiwi designers living in Tokyo. They both grew up influenced by Japanese art, calligraphy, anime and games, and this led them to move to Japan in 2015.
After travelling all over Japan and exploring all the different neighbourhoods in Tokyo, they decided to create a Japan-themed subscription box. Neko Box aims to share the amazing craftsmanship of everyday Japanese products with the world.
Neko Box is a surprise subscription box; every month you’ll receive 5-7 unique products (with some sneak-peeks beforehand). Neko Box is a premium lifestyle subscription box, with a different theme each month. You’ll receive items like: stationery, ceramics, chopsticks, traditional sweets and snacks, coffee, matcha, art prints, bath & body products and so much more…

They’ll also introduce you to a new neighbourhood or region in Japan every month, through a collectable, custom-designed travel guide.
Boxes ship directly from Japan each month: it’s like receiving thoughtful gifts from a Japanese friend.

Seriously, you guys. How incredible does this look already? I’m way too excited for these to be shipped out.
If you’d like your own, make sure, like they’ve said, you get in before the 21st of October! This will be a very exciting box to get, and I encourage you to check it out! Especially with that sweet discount code! What!
