You read the title of this post correctly: brunch club. It’s a thing! And my goodness I was pumped when I discovered it a few days before this event. It’s a group of lovely New Zealander bloggers that get together to hang out and eat brunch once a month. I was lucky enough to be able to grab a seat in January’s brunch, and it was really my first proper big blogger function. I have met up with bloggers before (going to meet Erin in London and visiting the London Sea Life Aquarium, for example, and then going to meet Laura and heading to the Warner Bros Studio Tour: the Making of Harry Potter) but I haven’t been to bloggy events or anything, so this was super exciting.
To be completely honest, I was kinda nervous! I know that seems silly, but I was going to meet a bunch of people I have never met before, and have only read their amazing blogs! It’s a bit daunting! Anyway, after a deep breath at the door of The White Rabbit, and stepped on into a great morning with some great people.
If you’re an Aucklander, or you’re visiting, do go and check out The White Rabbit. It’s on Customs Street East, and it’s this relatively new restaurant, with black and white themed décor, and, of course, a little Alice in Wonderland. We had pre-ordered brunch meals, and I had the hash brown, poached eggs, house dry cured bacon, green tomato, with hollandaise. And it was really good! They had these really sweet menus too, with the hat on them. Of course, I took some pictures.
You know what was also really lovely? It wasn’t weird that I was taking pictures of everything! Normally when I go out and about I’m always just a little hesitant about pulling out my camera and taking some shots. Especially in restaurants, and with my friends. But hanging with other bloggers who just get it (‘it’ being the need to document everything with a camera to share with the world later…or instantly on Instagram), was wonderful! Other people had their cameras out and were snapping away too. Brilliant!
The main room is a great bit room with white brick walls and lamps everywhere. There’s large jars of pickle on shelves behind the service area, and wine glasses…a lot of wine glasses. Then there’s a bar out the back (see above), and a little outside area. Upstairs is like a function type room, with a bar and black tables, complete with awesome Alice in Wonderland pictures.
So that’s The White Rabbit, and the lovely morning I had last Saturday with some brilliant NZ bloggers. Such Fun!
