There are plenty of things to do to improve your blog in 2025

The near year is the perfect time to figure out what you could do to improve your blog. It’s a fresh slate for a new year, and many people are setting goals. While you may not be setting blogging goals for yourself, there are plenty of things to do to improve your blog in 2025 that will make for a good starting point.

In this post, we’re going to look at 8 things to do to improve your blog in the new year (or whenever!), that is really going to help you improve your blog, your traffic, and even your business.

Let’s get into it!

Things to do to improve your blog

  • Make sure your pages are up to date
  • Check your links with a broken link checker
  • Ensure your contact details are up to date
  • Update a few of last year’s blog posts for 2025
  • Create new pages for your new services
  • Update your footer’s date if it’s not automatic
  • Brainstorm some posts for each upcoming season
  • Double-check your blog is still looking good on mobile and tablet

Make sure your pages are up to date

Pages are super important when it comes to your blog. You’ll notice that all blogs have (or should have) pages such as an About Page, Contact, Terms and Conditions, and Privacy … these pages are important because they’ll be some of the first spots that people go and check out when they land on your blog.

Making sure your pages are up to date means that when people do land on your blog and start looking through it, everything they read will be what you’re offering right now, will be the correct email address etc.

Check your links with a broken link checker

Links break. It happens. But we need to make sure that our links are all working. There are some great websites out there that will tell you which of the links on your website are broken and need fixing. If you’re looking for a free site, take a look at Broken Link Checker.

It’s really simple to use; pop your blog URL into the space on the site, and hit Go. You’ll then be presented with all the links that are broken on your site, and what sort of problem it’s happening. The more pages and posts you have on your blog, the longer it will take, but it’s still worth doing every few months.

Ensure your contact details are up to date

I mentioned this in the Pages point above, but if you ever change your email address or need to change how people get in touch with you, make sure you update your blog’s Contact Page and details. Whether you have your email address listed on your page or you have a contact widget, adjust as you need to.

Update a few of last year’s blog posts for 2025

The great thing about creating new content on your blog is the ability to link it to your other posts. If you’ve written some relevant blog posts in the past year, and you’re able to backlink them in other posts, be sure to do that.

For example, near the end of 2021, I published How To Use The Canva Draw Tool, but because I have other posts on my blog that are Canva-related, I was able to go back to other Canva-themed posts and include a link to the new post.

Having links within your posts to other posts on your blog has people sticking around for long, which decreases your bounce rate (how long people stay on your blog), and Google loves it.

Create new pages for your new services

Whether you’ve just launched an epic new freebie, or you’re a business updating your services, be sure to head to those pages and update the details. If you’re starting a new service, create a new page and be sure it’s SEO savvy so people can find it.

Update your footer’s date if it’s not automatic

You might have a date at the bottom of your blog (head on down to my footer and check it out) which looks something like This Splendid Shambles – 2021, make sure it’s updated for the new year. Most of the time it’s automatic, but just double-check it is swapped to the new year when January comes.

Brainstorm some posts for each upcoming season

New year, new topics! The year is full of seasons that you can utilise for your blog. No matter what your niche is, you can jump on board with various topics. Be sure to plan your year ahead of time (grab yourself a blog planner to help you out!), so you’re ready to go when the various season comes around.

Some ideas to help you out:

  • Think about the times of the year that are related to your niche
  • Brainstorm ways that you could post around the holidays (not just Christmas, New Year, July 4th, but other festivals and days of note throughout the year)
  • Grab yourself a content creation course to make sure that your content is fresh, educational, but also entertaining and engaging

Double-check that your blog is still looking good on mobile and tablet

Having a responsive blog is a must these days. Make sure your blog is looking good on desktop, tablet and mobile. Most themes for blogs and websites are made for responsive viewing, but it always pays to double-check every so often that everything looks how it’s meant to be looking.

So there are 8 things to do to improve your blog in 2025! You’ll find that when you continuously work on your blog, it will start improving things such as reach and traffic, your bounce rate will decrease and you’ll start seeing more sales if you’re a business. Keeping our blogs up to date is one sure way to keep growing.

No matter what you do with your blog this year, these little things are really going to improve your traffic, improve your readership and even your business if you have one.
