6 Ways to Use Canva as a Blogger

Canva is not just for making pretty social media graphics or Pinterest Pins. There are so many ways you can use Canva as a blogger and some of them may even surprise you.

We’re going to take a look at 6 ways to use Canva as a blogger in this post, and if you have any more suggestions, please do pop them in the comments. Let’s add to this list!

Create a blog header in Canva

Your blog needs a good header. And whether you opt for something simple and just use the text that comes with your theme, or you create something a little more complex, style, beautiful on Canva … as long as it’s clear what your blog name is and what you’re about, that’s the main thing.

But creating a header on Canva for your blog is a great way to not only display your blog’s name in a way that suits your niche and your tone but also showcase a little of you in that too. My header was made on Canva! And I love playing around with different versions for mobile and tablet options.

Logos

Speaking of headers, you can also create logos on Canva! If you’re just starting with your blog this is a great way to get a beautiful logo or image for your content that is easy to create, easy to download, and easy to tweak if you need to.

Note: You can’t trademark Canva elements or designs, so if you’re looking to trademark your blog, business or logo, you’ll need to think of Plan B. Learn more about Canva’s trademarking policies here.

💡Tip: Avoid using the Canva Logo Templates. While they’re great to get a feel for what kinda of logo you want for your blog, you need to change them up and make sure they look different to all the other logos out there.

A freebie or opt-in

Having a freebie is a great way to grow your email list. But how does one go about making a freebie? Ding ding ding! Canva!

By using the A4 size or Letter size document you can create a brilliant freebie or opt-in that you can download as a PDF and offer to your readers and audiences in exchange for their email address.

Add text to your blog images using Canva

Not every image is going to call for customisation like this, but this is a great way you can use Canva as a blogger. Many of my blog posts here on This Splendid Shambles are created on Canva, especially the ‘first’ image on every post. That’s my sort of title image. Think like the cover pages you used to draw in primary school for specific class topics.

I like to have an image that depicts the topic of the post, and then overlay it with the title of the post.

It isn’t necessary but it’s another great way to add something a little different to your blog and utilise Canva more.

Social Media graphics

One of my all-time favourite things to create on Canva is social media graphics. I use it for all my Instagram posts and stories, as well as some images for Facebook and LinkedIn. You can check out my Instagram account here to see what I mean.

The beauty of the Canva Pro account is that you can quickly resize and easily adjust any design you make, which means creating content for multiple platforms and resizing for optimisation is done in a flash. ⚡

Pinterest Pins

I could talk about Pinterest until the cows come home. I love it, and it can be so beneficial and lucrative for your blog. All the Pins you post on Pinterest have to be created somewhere though, right? Right. And Canva is a brilliant place to do that.

Make sure you’re using your keywords for your blog post on the Pin that you create in Canva, and that you link back to your blog.
