November not only means NaNoWriMo, mid spring/fall (depending on your hemisphere), the eleventh month of the year, a time to think about the upcoming Christmas season or the fact that I can’t believe it’s nearly the end of yet another year. It’s also the month where the huge book sale happens at the ASB Stadium here in Auckland. last year, as you may recall, I bought about 43 book. This year? I only bought 37. But! I got a huge set of books, and each book had like 3 novels within in. So it counts for more, right?

These past few weeks, and two more to come, I’m sharing with you guys what books I bought at the book fair, and while one is a short list, they’re still books I’m looking forward to reading.

Moby Dick, by Herman Melville
A classic that I haven’t read. I had to grab it when I saw it, obviously.

The Sorcerer’s Appendix, by Andrew Harman
Okay, so I had never heard of this book before…ever. But it was a little fun looking book that sounded like an enteratining read. Looking forward to reading this one…probably in the space of a day or two.

The Sword of Shannara, and The Wishsong of Shannara, by Terry Brooks
The reason I want to read the first in this series (The Sword of Shannara) is because my really good friend worked on the series that they filmed here in New Zealand, and which is coming out in the new year some time. I really want to watch the show, but I felt I needed to read the books first. I think Wishsong is actually book three, but hopefully I will read at least Sword before the show begins.

Gulliver’s Travels, by Jonathan Swift
I’ve read children’s adaptations of this book, and seen a movie or two, but I thought it was another classic I should pick up.

The Jungle Book, by Rudyard Kipling
I love this story, so I thought it was about time I read the original book. And this one? It has pictures!

So that’s book haul number 29! Look out for number 30 heading your way next week!
