I mentioned the other day that I went down to Hamilton to visit a friend, and we went to the Hamilton Gardens. I posted some photos of the pretty coloured trees and leaves, but today I wanted to show you the gardens themselves.

If you’ve never been before (I hadn’t before that Saturday), then it’s really worth a visit! The gardens are set up in sort of garden alcoves (for want of a better word). For example, there’s a middle fountain, which has several paths leading off it. You follow a path which leads you to another sort of centre area, with more paths leading from it. Pick a path, and that takes you, for example, to the Japanese garden which is tucked away beautifully. Once you’ve spent time there, you turn around and head back to the centre, and pick another path. Make sense? My explanation does not do it justice, but I hope you get the general idea. There were perhaps 12ish different gardens to explore, some are based on different countries, some are random like the Modernist garden, and the tropical garden. Then there’s also a herb garden. It’s a real mix! Anyway, I’ll quit yabbering and let the pictures show you themselves. Sorry for the overload.

Isn’t it incredible? Of course my photos don’t really do it justice either, but hopefully I’ve convinced you to go and check them out if you live in New Zealand. If not, put it on your ‘Things to do when I go to New Zealand’ list.
