Persephone was ready to start a new life when she left the mortal realm for Olympus.

However, she quickly discovered the dark side of her glamorous new home—from the relatively minor gossip threatening her reputation to a realm-shattering violation of her safety by the conceited Apollo—and she’s struggling to find her footing in the fast-moving realm of the gods.

Hades is also off-balance, fighting against his burgeoning feelings for the young goddess of spring while maintaining his lonely rule of the Underworld. As the pair are drawn ever closer, they must untangle the twisted webs of their past and present to build toward a new future.

This full-colour edition of Smythe’s original Eisner-nominated webcomic Lore Olympus features a brand-new, exclusive short story, and brings Greek mythology into the modern age in a sharply perceptive and romantic graphic novel.

This volume collects episodes 26–49 of the #1 WEBTOON comic Lore Olympus.

My thoughts on Lore Olympus Vol 2

Lore Olympus Vol 2 is just as wonderful as Lore Olympus Vol 1. If you missed my review of Vol 1 be sure to head back and take a read. In that review, I give a bit of an overview of the story and what Lore Olympus is about so I won’t go into too much detail here.

What I will say is that it was so much fun picking up Vol 2 as soon as it arrived at my doorstep. While I absolutely love the story and the graphic novel that Rachel Smythe has created, I always found it really hard to read on the Webtoon app; not because the Webtoon app is tricky to navigate – it’s actually really good! Highly recommend! – but more so that I didn’t like reading a graphic novel in that form.

I started reading Lore Olympus on Webtoon in about 2019 but didn’t get too far (possibly only 3/4s through the first Volume’s episode). When it was announced that the webcomic was being published in a physical form I nearly leapt for joy. Now, this was a format I could get behind.

I could always head back to Webtoon and continue the story, and perhaps eventually end up where I’m up to date as Smythe releases each comic … but I sort of love the idea of just waiting for the paperback now.

If you’re a fan of Greek Myths, graphic novels and/or just really stunning artwork, then Lore Olympus is a superb read. It has quirky characters, Greek mythology (with some creative liberties), and beautiful pieces of art all throughout.

Highly recommend!
