“Blood of mine or not, if you proceed with this trial, I hope you are prepared to live with the consequences.”
The rifts between realms grow ever wider as the temporary shelter Persephone had found in the Underworld is destroyed. Apollo has captured Demeter, turning the fugitive goddess over to Zeus in an attempt to win the king’s favor. Persephone and her mother must now stand trial for concealing Persephone’s unsanctioned act of wrath—though the goddess of spring feels secure with Hades on her side.
But safety is not guaranteed in the world of the gods.
As the trial brings to light truths and betrayals that threaten to upset everything—even Hades and Persephone’s relationship—the other gods face perils of their own.
Eros uncovers Ampelus’s secret during a fight in the Mortal Realm. Thanatos and Daphne’s budding relationship is threatened by a vengeful Apollo. Minthe is trapped in her cursed form until Persephone gains full control over her powers. And Hera is haunted by the specter of Kronos, whose influence in Olympus seems to be growing . . .

What is Lore Olympus Vol 7 by Rachel Smythe about?
Lore Olympus Vol 7 continues where we left off in Lore Olympus Vol 6, and things are getting messier by the minute for Persephone.
Her brief refuge in the Underworld? Gone. Now, with Apollo handing her mother over to Zeus to get on the king’s good side, both Persephone and her mum are facing trial for keeping Persephone’s fast (violent) actions a secret.
“Blood of mine or not, if you proceed with this trial, I hope you are prepared to live with the consequences.”
As the trial unfolds, hidden truths and betrayals come to light and really put a spanner in the works. Meanwhile, the rest of the gods aren’t exactly having an easy time of it either. Eros stumbles on a major secret about Ampelus, Thanatos and Daphne’s romance is under threat thanks to Apollo, Minthe is stuck in her cursed form until Persephone levels up her powers, and Hera is dealing with Kronos’s growing influence in Olympus, which is a problem all on its own.
It’s chaos, to say the least.
My thoughts on Vol 7 of Lore Olympus
This volume of Lore Olympus was brilliant. I read it shortly after reading Vol 6 and found myself enjoying this one more than the previous one. And given that I’ve enjoyed all the volumes of Lore Olympus, that’s saying something.
There were definitely pages where I laughed out loud – one in particular when a character declares “This could have been an email!” and it was just far too relatable – and scenes that were just brilliantly told and illustrated. One character gets turned into a potted plant at one stage, and it is just too good. 😆
That’s one of the things I really enjoyed about this comic series (which, by the way, you can read all of for free on Webtoon): it’s entertaining and it’s hard-hitting. There are themes throughout that need trigger warnings at the beginning of the books (which there always are), but also this playful, funny, aspect to it, too. And of course, the illustrations are fantastic.
I do find it a little hard to keep up with some of the gods and don’t always immediately recognise them when they show up on the page. I often think I need a glossary of images, like character bios, at the end of every book so I can just quickly flip to do it and remind myself who they are, what their relationship is with the other gods, and what their deal is. That would be super helpful.
Overall, another great edition of Lore Olympus!
Have you read either this graphic novel edition or episodes 153-179 on Webtoon? What did you think?
