“We have to make an example of her.”

Chaos reigns in Olympus as Zeus publicly declares Persephone a traitor and issues a warrant for her arrest. But Hades defies his brother’s decree, sheltering Persephone in the Underworld—and as the pair spend more time together, they are able to speak openly about their pasts. The goddess of spring admits the truth behind the bloody secret that led to Zeus’s ire, and the king of the Underworld shares the trauma he suffered at the hands of his power-hungry father, Kronos.

But as Hades and Persephone’s relationship grows stronger, others begin to fall apart. The bond between Hades and Zeus is stretched to its limit, threatening to fracture the peace between their realms. Persephone and Artemis’s friendship hangs by a thread as the goddess of the hunt slowly uncovers the vile truth about her twin, Apollo. A line is being drawn in the heavens, putting everyone’s loyalties into question as all the gods are forced to choose sides.

And as the cracks in the foundation of the pantheon spread, something darker and more earth-shattering might soon be released...

What is Lore Olympus Vol 6 by Rachel Smythe about?

Lore Olympus Vol 6 by Rachel Smythe continues the story of Hades and Persephone. Olympus is in total chaos after Zeus declares Persephone a traitor and issues an arrest warrant for her (and her mother!). But Hades steps in, refusing to obey his brother and offering Persephone refuge in the Underworld. As they spend more time together, they begin to share their deepest secrets.

While Hades and Persephone are getting on rather well (wink wink nudge nudge), other relationships about the place rather drastically falling apart. Hades and Zeus are on the brink of a complete fallout, and Persephone’s friendship with Artemis is hanging by a thread as Artemis uncovers disturbing truths about her brother, Apollo.

It’s all drama. And we love it.

My thoughts on Volume 6 Lore Olympus

Another brilliantly illustrated and told story as Rachel Smythe continues the Webtoon comic in graphic novel form. We pick up basically from the end of the last one, as online they just continue, there are no books to wait for you. You can actually read all of these online, and the series is now over, even if the books are still being released.

In this volume (which is episodes 127–152 on Webtoon), we get to hear a lot more about the backstory and the past of some of our characters, including our two mains, Persephone and Hades. And if you’re familiar at all with Greek mythology, then you’ll enjoy hearing about other Greek deities from the ‘past’ like Kronos, Rhea, and others.

Okay ‘enjoy’ might not be the right word, as the Greek gods, no matter the generation, were pretty darn ruthless, petty and all-around ridiculous. This does make for good reading, though, for sure, and I always love how Smythe depicts the characters through her art.

If you’ve been following along with the book renditions of the webcomic, then you’ll probably have already picked this one up, or it’s on your list. I’d love to know what you thought of this volume! Do drop a comment if you’ve been reading along or if you’ve finished the series on Webtoon. I’d love to hear from you.
