With the rise (and perhaps slight fall) of Pokemon Go this year, it was inevitable that Fandom of the Month Club would be doing a Pokemon themed box. And it happened, my friends. September’s FOTMC box was all things Pokemon, and while it wasn’t my favourite box, I did enjoy it all the same.

I love Pokemon Go, and when it first was released my friends and I went all over Auckland catching Pokemon. And it was awesome. But as the weeks went on and the hype went down, so too, did our commitment to Catching ‘Em All. I do, however, open my app when I’m walking around town or I’m being driven somewhere. There’s no way I’m advancing up the levels as fast as I was originally, but it’s still fun to play.

With that in mind, I was looking forward to this box (having seen it on Instagram about a week before mine showed up), and it was mostly an alright box. Here’s what was in in.

Stash bag, information card, magnet, and Stickerfandom of the month club pokemon

Like all months, everything comes in this great little stash bag, which is a great size and I actually use so many of them for various things. The information card has all of FOTMC contact and designer info on the back, and the magnet has a great collection of Pokemon silhouettes. I really love the style of these magnets. So fun. The other thing there is a sticker! I think this is an awesome addition to the box, and while I haven’t stuck it on anything, I have added it to my wall with the other magents and info cards.

Okay. These. Definitely my least favourite thing in the box, but I can see the appeal (I mean it is Pikachu after all). But to be completely honest, I’m never going to wear these. If we one day have a Pokemon party, then sure, I’ll wear them, but not day-to-day life like I do with so many of the things from FOMTC. My little gripe with these, also, is that one of them was broken, but I totally understand that these things happened, and because I’m unlikely to wear them, it’s no biggy.

4 Starter Pokemon Hair Clips

These are so cute, and I will definitely wear these (although, they go the wrong way for the side I would wear them on – I’ll make it work). Hopefully you can see that they’re Squirtle, Charmander, Bulbasaur and Pikachu. I love the colours and can’t wait to wear them.

Pokeball Compact Mirror

This is very cool. The other time they’ve done a compact was back in the Dark Arts box in January, but now that I have 2, I can have one in each bag. Very cool, and very handy.

So, all in all, an okay box. Definitely not a favourite, but didn’t hate it. My favourite thing are the hair clips, I think, and while the earrings didn’t do it for me, I know that people will love them, and that’s fantastic.
